On Saturday 23rd July 2022 Econ Group celebrated 40 years of trading! Econ Group was officially formed in 1982 by the current Managing Director David Cheriton. To mark this very special occasion all Econ employees were invited to attend an event at The Sail Loft, Greenwich. This event would reflect on the past successes of the business and look forward to the future chapters of the company. The business is now supported by David’s children Danny, Ginny along with his nephew Charles.
“ I would like to say a huge thank you to all our clients, past and present because without their continued loyalty over the years the business would not have naturally grown to the size it is today. I am speechless on how proud we all are as a family of the company and where it sits today in an ever competitive industry. We think that our people play a massive part in the success of the company and the event today reflects our thanks from all the current directors. To mark some of these wonderful contributions we have produced some awards for the event. The awards include 10 years’ service along with outstanding contribution and lifetime achievement, commented David Cheriton.”
The event was a huge success with nearly all current employees attending. The awards were presented by company Directors Danny and Charles Cheriton along with a speech from the family on the business throughout time both past and present with excitement about future business opportunities. All employees that attended were issued a commemorative 40 year enabling excellence glass gift set. Econ Group are looking to hold future company events.

Chris joined the business as our compliance officer and now is our compliance manager. His tireless efforts have added huge value over the years, ensuring that we remain ahead of the industry with compliance. Chris still enjoys his role and looks forward to a continued rewarding career.
Martin joined the business nearly 20 years ago as an asbestos operative. Martin was promoted to supervisor and then later site manager. Martin was promoted to contracts manager in November 2021 after completing one of the largest and most challenging projects the business has delivered to date. Martin is also responsible for all the emergency response work for our framework agreements.
Steve has been with the business for 14 years and is our commercial manager. Steve has been instrumental in bringing new customers to the company along with continuing to strengthen relationships with existing customers. Steve works endlessly to bring tenders into the company and ensure they cross the line to become live enabling projects, with this he has had a huge involvement with the updating of the company branding and image back in 2020 alongside company Director Ginny Cheriton. He is always going above and beyond to ensure our clients get the very best service from our commercial team.
Tony left school and joined our business as a demolition operative. Tony over the years has risen through the ranks to become one of our most experienced site managers at Econ. Tony’s service record is over 30 years! Tony now looks to helping and supporting future operatives wanting to gain a rewarding career in this industry and enjoys passing on the essential skills you need. Tony is always willing to offer his help and support on bridge projects at the weekend and we have lost count of the number of structures he has helped take down over his career with us. We are extremely grateful for his contribution to the company.
Orpington Maintenance Delivery Unit have been utilising Econ’s Services since the commencement of the new Environmental Services contract in October 2021. Since mobilisation Econ have provided our DU with a very efficient and professional service. The customer service and contract team are very friendly and approachable. I use the services of Econ primarily for Non-Emergency call outs which includes both general litter picking and fly tipping jobs as well as larger and more complex waste issues. Every job that I raise is acknowledged and responded to within a quick timescale. Following the completion of each job, I receive a signed completion certificate including photos and detailed commentary. Similarly the period payment reporting is issued on time with full back up information for ease of reference. This enables us to identify jobs and authorise payment quickly. I can strongly recommend the services of Econ who have improved the levels of service previously experienced and assisted our team with the resolution of a number of more difficult and costly cases on our patch.
